Much of the above.
I really loved my work among the warm, loving Caribbean people in my foreign language "missionary" territory. They readily had us into their homes, assembling friends and family to listen to us. The increase was huge, but to what end, I now puzzle. Putting together circuit and district assemblies/conventions was a blast.
My Bethel work as a proofreader -- a very taxing job -- "interfered" with my preaching and teaching all over New York (Brooklyn, Manhattan, Nyack, etc.) I had to give it all up, like so many young, earnest Bethelites, who crashed and burned.
I still edit/proofread but NOW GET PAID FOR what they trained me TO DO FOR FREE.

Funeral plan ?
by Chook into all you young and old alike what would you have as a farewell party from this earth , would you party with friends months before or would you go out quietly and rather have input into the wake.
i have heard of these duck hunters who put their ashes in shotgun shells.

Yes, a celebration of life where ANYONE WHO WISHES can speak, sing a song, cry, laugh, be a little irreverent, . . .
Not ever going to happen at a Kingdom Hall.

Now we're cookin' with gas!
As a house cleaner for most of my life -- both as avocation and vocation -- I advise you to please be sure to follow whatever instructions are provided for cleaning. I've seen many a range surface ruined through improper cleaning procedures, that is, before my coming on board. Too, some surfaces are harder to keep streak-free, namely BLACK!
I'm sure you're aware of all this and don't need my advice. My fave is a client's 6-burner WOLF range. No bells and whistles (none needed).

Did you ever have a discussion with an apostate that helped your journey out.
by jwfacts inthere seems to be a number of different ways that apostates try to get jehovah's witnesses realise they do not have the truth, ranging from subtle comments to aggressive attacks.
do you have any that looking back helped you finally leave.
some of the methods include:.

"I can understand somebody being turned off by women wearing a pound of makeup and maybe red lipstick. But, makeup done moderately shouldn't be bothering anybody. Every now and then you run into somebody (usually a man) who has issues about this and have hang ups about women's adornment. Know what? That's THEIR problem." -- LongHairGal's reply to Londo
A lady friend, who became a JW, told me about an encounter with a JW:
She was originally a Pentecostal and lived in Oklahoma. A Witness lady came to the door and my friend, whose beliefs included avoidance of makeup, made some rude comment about the JW's painted face. so she told me, laughing. The Witness lady's response?
"Well, Dear, even an old barn needs a fresh coat of paint."
A real ice breaker. I don't recall my friend ever wearing any makeup even when she became a JW . . .

I hated doing three-story homes. Initially, I didn't have a ladder standoff. Once I got one, I was less scared and did a better job.

The brother who took me out in service for the first time, circa 1966, had left Jehovah's Witnesses. We had phone conversations and letters back and forth over the years where he discussed his reasons for leaving.
Among other pieces of apostate literature he sent me were copies of The Free Minds Journal. The story of Terry Walstrom was the first. Later, that of Nils and Sherry Jansma, friends from Bethel. That was the eye opener; how could my friends, so devoted to Jehovah, abandon their beliefs and life's work?
That was just the beginning . . .

"Privileges"
by minimus inwithin the organization, jehovah's witnesses know that they must be dutiful and set an example for "worldly ones" as well as for their own brotherhood.
if a witness fails in setting the proper example, they may lose some 'privileges"..... what privileges did you look to have and what privileges did you lose?

I lost my privilege of being the KH and assembly piano player due to domestic issues.
Since it occurred at the very time we went to recordings (vinyl), it didn't require too much explaining away why I was no longer tickling the ivories and the embarrassment.
Some elders didn't like my rockin' out on the piano, but the publishers sang their hearts out.
What a world, what a world. . . .

Well, whether or not they say it, many people, JWs included, like long hair and beards on men. I always got love bombed at the KH.
"Oh, don't cut it! It's so romantic!"
Okay, ladies and gentlemen. Yes, the men, too.
